So sorry to hear about Paul's passing. In our senior year Paul was the manager of our varsity basketball team. He was a great guy always there for our team. RIP Paul.
In our senior year, Paul had a classic Austin Healey 100-6 that was barely running. On a school night, by 11 pm, we had fiddled with the carbs and timing and it started running pretty decently. Paul gave me the honor of first drive and we drove till 1 am. What a blast! I've had several great cars and have tons of great car memories, but this is one of my favorites. Paul was a great guy and a good friend in high school. Peaceful journey, Paul.
I knew Paul from Mr. Goodheart's history class. The class was totally out of control. Paul sat behind me (at least on days when we had a test). In the middle of one test, Paul said to me, " Koster, who painted the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel?" In typical 9th grade fashion, I replied "Michelangelo, you idiot." The next day we got our papers back and Paul said "Koster boy, you screwed me! You gave me the wrong answer!". I said, "What do you mean? I got it right".
Turns out, Paul had written just "Angelo". In fairness to Paul, I had written "Michael Angelo". Guess I got credit for being close.
Paul was a genuine nice guy and a friend to everyone. If leaving behind a life of friendships, laughs, and goodwill shared with everyone counts for anything, Paul gets credit for more than being close. He goes to the head of the class. I'm proud I knew him. Thank you for your friendship, Paul. God bless.
