Best Spots, Autumn Scenery

Hey!

This may be my last trip, ever, to Upstate NY in the Fall.  I have alloted  time to take some day trips from Pittsford out and around the Finger Lakes.  I currently plan to go to Letchworth and Canandaigua (I was gobsmacked to discover that Roseland is no more!) to take some pictures of the natural splendor, but I do not have a fixed itinerary.

Here in Northern California there are no seasons.  It's a little cooler and wetter and greener in the Winter and warmer, dryer and sere in the Summer.   That makes the Summers and Winters preferable to those in  NY, but the Spring and Fall are sub-par.

I'm interested in any suggestions for destinations for spectacular Autumn landscapes.  I am hale enough to walk a few miles,  but diners, restaurants or cafes with vistas are nice, too.

    Regards,

Brad,

It may be a little early for our best autumn colors but did you just read that Sherman Tourism books just named the Finger Lakes as the most beautiful lake region in the world!  The city (small) of Canandaigua is very quaint for walking around and there is also the NY Wine and Culinary Center near the Canadaigua Pier.  There is also an outdoor grill at the Inn on the Lake right next to the culinary that is fun to have a drink and watch the north end of the lake.  On Keuka Lake, there is an Inn at the north end called Esperanza.  Good food the last time I was there and a gorgeous view of Keuka Lake.  Watkins glen is a nice gorge that you can hike.  Also, if you google the Finger Lakes Hiking Trails you can get a map of hiking trails.  I'll keep thinking of other options for you.  See you at the reunion.
